Closely located to JRUL (John Rylands University Library), included in the User Group will be a tour of the Library, allowing attendees to see some of the Sentry Isis recent developments.
JRUL were the first users of the Isis Room Booking module, and 2011 has seen further development of this product; Smart phone access enables students to have the option of viewing Group Study Room availability remotely, and of course also gives them the ability to book rooms.
Some of the subjects expected to be under discussion will be:
• Use of the new full colour graphic display for gate/ turnstile tops.
• New web-enabled reporting.
• A demonstration of the proposed web-based fault call logging system. This will allow users to log faults, keep abreast of progress with logged calls, and see summary historical information of faults logged and visits recorded.
• Implementation of Smart Card technology options within Sentry.
• Sentry Users’ message board.
SUG11 will take place on Tuesday December 13th at the Manchester Museum. We will be starting at 10.30am with coffee and refreshments available from 10.00am.
Lunch will be provided and we would expect to finish around 3.30pm. An extra Talis user session is planned for 3.30pm lasting around 30 minutes; all are welcome, not just Talis users.
As per normal, the User Group will be a mixture of technical and operational issues. New and forthcoming developments will be discussed, and we would welcome future suggested developments from our users. This is how Sentry has developed over the years. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss any present issues and canvas user opinion regarding best practices.
We will be releasing further details and sending invitations out to our Sentry customers over the next few months, but if you would like to register your interest ahead of this, please email us.
